| I'm starting with the Emily Griffin series, beginning with Something Borrowed. I need a quick, fun, easy read to get my summer off right! |
| I know, I know. I'm an English teacher and I haven't read The Grapes of Wrath. Hence its place on the list. Don't judge me. |
| As I said, I enjoy Christian commentary, and since this got so much negative hype last year, I really want to see what all the controversy is about for myself. I loved his other works including his lectures, The Gods Aren't Angry and Everything is Spiritual. |
| I know! I'm working on it... See Grapes of Wrath caption. New found love in a coffee shop? How could this be bad? A little light romantic fiction.
A teenager dies and strives to obtain popularity posthumously. This is very seemingly out of my usual suspects, but since Tamara recommended it, I'm giving it a go. It will be good to expand my horizons :)
I've only heard good things about this author. Also, the back made me laugh out loud in Barnes in Noble. It's a witty, sarcastic memoir that accounts his re-acquaintance with America after living in Britain for twenty years. I'm excited :)
And that's the list thus far. As I said, I LOVE to discuss literature, so I am welcoming recommendations with open arms. Also, I invite you to read with me--we could always meet up for coffee and literature-driven dialogue ;)
Happy reading!

OK, I've read "Grapes of Wrath" (hated it, sorry) and I've read "Crazy Love". I ejoyed "Crazy Love", but it wasn't spectacular. I've read Donald Miller's Serching for "God Knows What" and I'm reading "Through Painted Deserts" right now.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just LOVE Don? I love his poignancy and his ability to keenly observe nuances that I would typically overlook. I'm looking forward to comparing notes on the other two. PS I'm following your blog! Your shoes are bound to go some exciting places next year ;)
DeleteI really do love good ole' Don. I'm trying to figure out how to follow your blog, but it just isn't working!
DeleteThis post made me feel so excited for you!! And for me to get to have some awesome literary conversations with you! :-)
ReplyDeleteSO happy to see Bossypants on your list. You'll LOVE it.
I own Crazy Love if you want to borrow it. :)
Also really glad to see Love Walked In on your list. I think you'll like it a lot.
And Bill Bryson? LOVE HIM.
Of course, I love you more, though. :)
